SANDRINGHAM

The Bay was once outstanding for fishing but workboats associated with the construction of the desalination plant, ships and fishermen all now compete for space.

The best time to fish is sunrise at the start of a run-in tide, which at this time of the year is about 6.30 am.

Down by the pier on the western side of the bay near Dolls Point, Ramsgate and Lady Robinsons Beach can yield a catch of bream, whiting, flathead or even tailor.

If like me you don’t do so well there is a fish and chip shop in Ramsgate Road.
