It is 579 m above sea level, part of the Moogerah Peaks National Park and is about 100 km west of Brisbane just outside the town of Boonah.

It is Mount French and not only is it a popular destination for rock climbers but there are some easy walks around the top of the cliffs from the picnic area.

One of the tracks we took leads to the lookout called Logans Lookout which overlooks the Fassifern Valley.

The word here is easy. It’s easy to get to, the tracks are in excellent condition and you can’t go wrong with great toilets, water, camping and picnic grounds. And at the end of the day you can have a beer at the historic Dugandan Hotel, on the Boonah-Rathdowney Road.

  1. Interesting… the relationship of place and name. Wonder what we might come to see merely in that relationship, culture to culture, how we view the places where we live and wander within. One might near “taste” the place by the names. Thank you for the birds-eye-view.
