Today is the first day of winter, because where I live we use a Meteorological winter rather than an Astronomical winter. So the 1st of June is the day I start to feel cold and that sounds sensible to me because it’s now cold, wet and windy outside.
In the old days humans were not certain of living through the winter but with modern inventions such as hot water bottles, blankets and soup most of us make it through.
However that might not be the case for some of these little guys I saw at the local Flower Power shop this morning. They are sensitive to cold and could suffer from hypothermia and probably won’t survive the winter. Sad thing is that they don’t know they are facing the end of their life cycle: so thanks so much for the blooms and all the colour, see you on the other side.
