I’m getting ready for the Spring Cycle ride when on October the 20th I’ll ride with 10,000 other riders pedalling through Sydney’s streets. I’m into week three of my seven week training schedule. So far I’ve had two rides and 16 cups of coffee but I intend to increase my riding intensity over the last four weeks.
The iconic route begins in North Sydney before travelling over the main deck of the Harbour Bridge, along the Cahill Expressway, through the Royal Botanic Gardens, into the Rocks and Pyrmont before winding its way through the picturesque suburbs of the Inner West and finishing along Olympic Boulevard in Sydney Olympic Park.
At the finish, Sydney Olympic Park, there is a festival style atmosphere with music, food, exhibitors and entertainment. I usually get off the Steel Steed, have a rest, enjoy the music and then can’t get up. But I still have fun.
